Panchang, 11 September: Amavasya ends this morning; Teej and Ganesh Chaturthi ahead
Friday, 11 September 2026, marks the turn of the lunar month. The Amavasya tithi of Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha, which was observed yesterday as Pithori Amavasya, runs until 8:56 am today, after which Shukla Pratipada begins and the bright fortnight opens, according to Prokerala's panchang calculated for Ujjain. It is a good moment to plan the week, because the next seven days are among the busiest in the Hindu festival calendar.

Hartalika Teej: 13 or 14 September?
The first major vrat of the fortnight is Hartalika Teej, kept largely by married women in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. This year there is a genuine calendar question. The Tritiya tithi begins at about 7:08 am on Sunday, 13 September, and ends at about 7:06 am on Monday, 14 September, according to Drik Panchang and NewsX.
Under the udaya tithi rule, which fixes a festival on the day the tithi is present at sunrise, Teej falls on Monday, 14 September, with a short morning puja window of roughly 6:12 am to 7:06 am. Families who follow the pradosh-kaal convention instead observe it on Sunday, 13 September, with the evening puja muhurat listed as 7:26 pm to 9:41 pm. Check with your family purohit; both dates have scriptural backing.
Ganesh Chaturthi on Monday
Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi, and with it Ganesh Chaturthi, falls on Monday, 14 September. The madhyahna (midday) puja is the preferred time for sthapana of the idol, and ten-day celebrations conclude with Anant Chaturdashi on Friday, 25 September, when the main visarjan processions take place, Outlook India and Drik Panchang report.
