CM Rekha Gupta unveils the 2026 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon finisher's medal

Kapil Mishra, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Tourism for Delhi, also spoke on the significance of the race. He noted that the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon has successfully become an annual fixture on the Delhi calendar, attracting people from both domestic and international origins.

The Delhi Government and Delhi Tourism are fully committed to promoting such major sporting events. According to Mishra, these competitions help strengthen Delhi's standing as a premier tourism destination. He expressed his eagerness to see the October 18 edition become a grand success.

Symbolism and heritage in the medal design

The 2026 finisher's medal continues a long-standing tradition by blending India's rich natural heritage with the personal journey of the individual runner. This year's medal features a refreshed design and a distinctive new avatar, specifically crafted to celebrate the achievement of every person who reaches the finish line.

The medal is made from high-quality zinc sourced from the legendary Zawar Mines in Udaipur. These mines are recognized as one of the oldest zinc mining sites in the world. The production of the medal was handled by Hindustan Zinc Limited, which is a member of the Vedanta Group.

The Great Delhi Run, the Champions with Disability category, and the Senior Citizen Run have also seen an overwhelming response. Registrations for these specific categories are filling up very quickly. This surge reflects the growing passion for fitness within Delhi and the evolution of the marathon into a community-wide celebration.

Shreepad Shende, the Chief Marketing Officer of IDFC FIRST Bank, commented on the connection between the race and personal growth. He suggested that for every runner, the medal is a powerful reminder that great achievements are the result of consistency, discipline, and perseverance.
