A 23-year-old woman from Bengaluru has died under highly suspicious circumstances while staying at a lodge in the Hassan district. The incident occurred in the Sakaleshpur taluk, prompting local authorities to launch a formal investigation into the sudden death.
The deceased, identified as Varsha, was a resident of Bengaluru. According to official reports, the circumstances surrounding her death at the lodge have raised concerns, leading the police to treat the case with high priority.
Details of the incident at Sridevi Lodge
Varsha had traveled from Bengaluru to Sakaleshpur on September 11, 2026. She was accompanied on the trip by two friends, identified as Raghu and Darshan. The group was staying at the Sridevi Lodge, located in Valalahalli Kudige village within the Hettur Hobli area.
The tragedy unfolded on September 15, 2026. While Varsha was taking a bath, she reportedly collapsed. Following the incident, she was rushed to Hettur Hospital for medical attention. However, she was subsequently shifted to the Sakaleshpur Government Hospital, where medical professionals declared her brought dead.
Police investigation and official statements
Hassan Superintendent of Police, Shubhanwita, IPS, stated that the Sakaleshpur Rural Police received an intimation regarding the suspicious death around 7:20 PM. The authorities were alerted to the fact that a 23-year-old woman from Bengaluru had passed away within the jurisdiction of the Sakaleshpur Rural limits.
Following the report, DySP Malatheesh and officers from the Sakaleshpur Rural Police visited the scene.
